1 month after the new year 2010

Today is the 31 days of the 2010 calendar. It marked the end of first month after another 13 hours. I believed it is a time to start look back for self resolution as a starting point review. Well, the kids are definitely growing up and getting more independence. The elder one definitely grow up as he becomes more cautious and thoughtful on his speech and action although he is still carrying his typical trait of "not bother". His studies shown a bit of improvement. I still do not yet able to find time to guide him on his studies and he seems to be overjoy on this. This is simple reaction as I always carry my temper whenever I am guiding his studies. I bet this is one of the first attitude change I will need to manage. I just do not know why I still carry such a bad temper. Some days ago, I read one of the EQ assessment I had attended. The assessment described my character with almost over 90% accuracy.
The assessment claimed I am impatience, fast, do not listen to comment, always have self judgment etc. I believed I have been having this character ever since I have confidence in myself since I was young. There was sometime perhaps I was really humble that I believed Soo King also commented that I changed. But that was only lasted for not more than 6 months. May be I need to find back that character and control my emotion and expectation to others.
Well, back on kid...
The little has grew up to be more cheerful but started having disobey attitude and stubborn. I can see him inherit 90% of my character. I bet this is my fault. After all, I believed they observed alot of my attitude and matched to mine... This will need to be changed soon.

When I watched the movie preview, it did not impress me at all. I thought it was just another CG base science fiction type movie. And so I was resisting to watch the film when it was on show. It was after three weeks later then I entered the cinema without any expectation.
It was really similar when Titanic was on show and received tremendous feedback as best movie of the year and so I was holding on to enter the cinema. I did not know why but both movies I did not like to join the crowd.
The movie started and so the aircraft reached Pandora. The introduction immediately drew my attention. It was really a revolutional idea and concept protraited for the movie. I guess the transfer of the arena of such natives to the planet Pandora really created some new hopes and excitement. I believed the natives could still resembled some of the natives elsewhere on Earth but if the screening was on local natives, this movie will not draw such tremendous success feedback.
The only comment... it is ugly for human...

Food Poison...

It was Sunday after the dinner when I started to have the stomach irration, sighting food poisoning. It was however, not that serious and so I did not bother the periodic pain. The pain continued for two days ryhthmatically and so finally I visited to the doctor to seek medication assistance.
It was really lucky that the two kids did not suffer the same although the elder already down with fever for two days. May be the purging will help in weight losing. LOL.

Trip to Singapore

We spent a 5 days holiday in Singapore during the December school break. The kids were overjoy when they were told about the trip. They were keen to board the plane at Ipoh. It was a small propeller plane that housed 80 people on a single trip. Although the kids had spent over 24 hours on plane when flying to US a few years back, they could have forgetten the "suffer" of long hour flying.
It was just 90 minutes flight before we landed at the Changi budget airport. It was so near now! The kids were always playing with their coursins on the way to the apartment. It was a surprise that the elder mentioned that he likes Singapore as it is more organized, less rubbish and more importantly he could easily "shopping" just at the ground floor of the apartment. What an idea! Perhaps this is really a place for younsters.
It was really a nice trip. There is at least a few items I notice the difference.
1) the broadband in Singapore is ssssssssssssssooooooo FAST
2) the spending on taxi and transport is a lot
3) shopping, ya only shopping and the branded items are way way cheaper
4) there are more Chinese than local on the streets
Next trip, I shall bring the kids to Hong Kong.

New year resolution

Normally I always have some ambitions and goals at the beginning of the years. But it turned out that most of them could not be accomplished at later stage. This repeats every year. I blame no other but myself.
This year, I have only three
1) lose weight. I will need to control for not over 65kg. Now 78kg...wow. This is something that I did not aware of till last Christmas. This goal also will parallel to the committed weekday morning wogging.
2) eyes on kids for education. I had been "neglecting" the kids' performance in education as I always believed they are kids and let them have some fun and childhood days. But with the elder approaching to standard six next year, I believed something has to be get started. I hope I can afford half an hour daily for the kids before they embark on FACEBOOK.
3) Cherish. I will need to cherish for whatever and whoever with me and was with me before. Alghough I still have some hatre over some guys and girls. I will forgive and move on. I hope those who hate me will let go.
After all, these are the three simple resolutions. Hmmm... I will have KPI later. Dr. Koh, you want to measure this?

Pasar Malam on Tuesday night

Before the kids with us, we spent every tuesday night walking around the pasar malam (night market) for food and some grocery items. You would not cook on the Tuesday night and when I returned home from work, it was almost time for the "shopping"
Till the kids joint us in end of 2007, we started going to the pasar malam as you would cook for the kids. You always wanted the kids to have good food and the good food would be from you. There were always great dishes I enjoyed. I do not think I could find any more similar now. I never told you that there are and always are dishes I enjoyed. Those are something really simple but I like them. I may one day try to cook myself, with my own memory of taste. I hope I can have them again. but of course with you together!

In 2000 1/1, there was the first public held countdown with display of fireworks in Kampar. We had the elder together although he was just in his 4th month old. It was a great fire works display!
In 2005 1/1, we were on way home after an extended long hours drive. They were people gathering for the scheduled fire works. We drove the kids out at before the count down and witnessed the fireworks at the car park of the mall. It was the first new year countdown for us in US.
In 2008 1/1, we were at the Padang Besar with two kids. We did not go there with purpose but it was really a drive around which we ended up there. The kids were running on the field. We managed to witness glance of fireworks from afar. The kids were enjoying the fireworks while we just stand there watching.
In 2010 1/1, there was again fireworks on the Padang Besar Ipoh. I believed you would be witnessing this display as well.
There were other years which we spent the time together on countdown with fireworks. We were at Esplanade, Gurney Drive. I remember.

Christmas and Soya Bean

I always like the Soya Bean. I do not have any preferences on any choice or any particular shops as long as it is smooth in mouth and tasty. Soo King always enjoyed the same. Soya Bean will remain forever in my memory as I did not fulfill Soo King last wish to have it. She requested two items but I only managed to get one, while I said we always could have it later and did not really need to have it now. I am still regret on this.

This shop is always proclaimed the best in Ipoh town and I believed the crowd of line up was really scary on the Christmas holiday. And so I told my friend to drive off as we can always return and we do not need to join the crowd to squeeze through. I hope I could still find the time to try the soya bean curb again.

Teluk Batek

We decided to have a short half-day trip to the nearby Teluk Batek on the Christmas break. The kids were overjoy when hearing that they could be on the beach again as they always wanted to have some funs with the sands, sea shell collecting and swimming.
It was morning at 7.30am but both of the kids were not awaked yet and so we only started off the journey at 8.15am. The journey to the beach took us nearly 1 hour and I accidentally drove the car to the TLDM (Royal Malaysian Marine) and stopped by them at the entrance. I could only laughed as this was the first ever mistake to Teluk Batek after numerous trips before.
At arrival, the kids dashed to the beach and having their funs. The little on always wanted to have sea shell collection. I did not know from where he had this idea of collecting but he insisted. It was a great day for sea swimming as it was cloudy and windy. We spent nearly 1 hour inside the water before cleaned up.
We then stopped by at the Kampung Koh for a great lunch with crabs , fishes and prawns. All of these just costed us RM70. It was really excellent as we could see the restaurant immediately filled up with other customers. We reached home at 1.30pm and all I could do after parking my car was to have myself rested on bed. I slept till 6pm while the kids watching video without the complaints of tired. Well, I know this is sight of aging for myself.

We normally do not have Christmas count down. This year was a bit different with some little fun with the kids. We turned on the youtube with Christmas and the kids were sing dancing on the bed and we popped open the juice.
But what really interested the kids were the gifts. They grabbed them and opened to find what are the special gifts. After all, I did not prepare these gifts but my sis did. The kids returned me with some hand drawing cards.
It is Christmas again. Merry Christmas, SooKing!

I am so sad seeing loss of 4 children in the news.

My heart really sank when I read such a news where all 4 cute children were drown. I always avoid such type of disaster news. But I could help myself to ask do we adults have all the safe guard measure to the kids?
Is it our ignorant and negligence?

I am having my kids back this evening for the Christmas Eve and I will definitely cook for them, a long suspended responsibility of myself. Kids, I will cook for you once more.

After all, it will be a gathering dinner for my loved one.

離思

離思--曾經滄海難為水,除卻巫山不是雲

若天上有知, 望收到至愛的離思, 他朝有縁, 天上人間携手相聚

A near miss

I may not be an absolute careful driver but never a reckless driver... On my way home after dinner from sis's home, I normally will need to pass through a narrow street. Tonight there isn't much difference. The only different was that there was a reckless motorcyclist dashed out from a junction. I braked and skidded but fortunately I drifted to the opposite of this motorcyclist and manage to avoid a deadly collision.
I reminded myself to always careful and cautious about such incident again. I will.

Finally back...

After almost 1 week off home and country, now finally back rest on bed. There had been some great feeling for this trip with two kids. Will need to look for some times to arrange them for sharing soon. But now I need to rest for a while...

A new grand restaurant

At the side of this restaurant, it used to be an economical shopping spot for the local. I remembered I spent quite a number of days and nights there with my parents brought me there for buying shoes, clothes, begs etc. But it has since been in transformation to a grand 3 storey exclusive restaurant. I am looking forward to be a guest in this hall when it is ready before the Chinese New Year.

Moment ago, I went back to Kampar for a night as the kids are spending the school holidays with their grand mother. The kids always like to be at the grand parents' place as they will be king and can openly demand for anythings.
I went to the nearby lake, which is also the entrance to the Unitar and it is indeed a long stretch of lake side with fence. They are numerous youngsters and oldsters fishing at night. Everyone seems enjoy the cool night and relaxing fishing with chit chats. I could also withnessed some couples dating at a spot or two. It is really a nice haven for the local to enjoy the nice and night scenery. After all, I hope people do not damage but can maintain this nice spot for relax.

Waiting for my turn...

Last Sunday I was at hometown and my dad reminded that they would be a bit busy due to customers' booking for palm reading. He claimed the customers came with bus. Wow, I was really amazed on hearing this and so I grabbed the Canon and dashed to the scene.
It was about 9am and yet I really observed there were two buses at front with approximate 30 - 40 waiting customers. I did not really know why people came in group for palm reading. Well, my father never want to read my palm but yet accurately providing some hints to others. After all, it is reference for me as far as the palm reading is concerned.

It is always a place of people for food. Last Friday, I tried again and the place was full of outstationers. How do I know, well they spoke either Hokkien or Mandarin. These are rarely spoken in Ipoh where majority only bother to greet in Cantonese. It was full of people, including some Mat Salleh.
It would be better if there is free WIFI..lol

Today I received a letter from H bank informing that I will need to pay off the unauthorized transaction; as the transactions were conducted before the bank was notified. On reading this letter, I just cut the credit card and rang the H bank that I would need to cancel the card. I took out another few cards and all potong on spot.

This action had trimmed down the card total to 3 and I am still considering cutting another one.

We are copy cat???

This morning, I read an e-newspaper which carried the title something like this "chienese educational system in Malaysia only create copy cat." This was the statement of a local well recognized historian and research prof.

He went on commented and argued that how many innovation or invention had been from the creative mind of such chinese educated talents! I find this is one most irresponsible comment of all. Not because I am chinese educated but I am responding base on what I am now.

1) Japan is well known as copy cat after WW2 but now what about them? They are the leader in automobile and electronic.

2) USB thumb drive... if I am not mistaken, this is a creation of a local Chinese educated guy who venture his innovation in Taiwan.

3) blablabla

The innovation is not blocked by the media of education system. So prof, are you refering that there isn't any talented art work from Chinese education followers? How many innovations has the western media education system had helped to make Malaysian proud with the world class accepted innovation?

I really could not understand why a person like this is so skeptical in mindset but yet spoke without data.
