day 261 after the event

I am blogging with the newly arrived Dell Mini 9 with the built in mobile broadband connection on a crippled Celcom broadband. The connection line is rather slow and always drop off. I could never get the advertised 384Kbps download speed but only at 1.2KBps even connected with HSPA. Although of the speed bump, I am still satisfied but annoy because of the waiting...
The mini9 somehow drain battery faster than my previous experience (without the build in broadband) The battery just cannot last longer than 2 hours. I started noticing that even in standby mode drain battery faster than other lappy. This make the mini 9 not really a feasible option for mobility because of this issue then.
When checking for any similar complaints online, I stumbled into a post of which the dell mini 9 indeed included a GPS chip which is hidden and disabled by Dell. After some driver install and uninstall, I managed to have the GPS port enabled. Wow... a little wonder for all the wireless connection needed.
If I manage to run it with Garmin then I will post up the step by step. All these follow up only possible when I arrived back home then.
