March 8, 2008 was a day to return to hometown to fulfill the right of a citizen. It was the day of the 12th general election of Malaysia. It was the day of most Malaysian will go back to their hometown to cast their votes and perhaps to have a short visit to the hometown.
I grew up from a small tin mining town, named Kampar which is a Chinese majority town. My home is a wooden hut that house the family of five members. It located beside a river which in old time, whenever there were rains, there would be a 90% chance of flood with muddy water. It was in such condition that I grew up and understand the meaning of flood damage...
The house is still here, but my family has moved to a nearby new housing estate which supposedly will have no more flood. Touch wood and no flash flood yet! And the new township is building and developing in good manner.
Kampar is now the home of the new Univercity TAR. But the glory of the old tin golden days still far reaching, which I remember we had 5 cinemas but yet now none...
Will the glory of Perak return?
